BAMBOO FLOORING
Bamboo is becoming increasingly popular with architects, interior designers and homeowners because it is lightweight and has unique textures and colours.
The Bamboo flooring is ideal for refurbishment because it arrives as a finished product already coated so there is no unnecessary mess and dangerous fumes normally associated with onsite sanding and polishing and can be laid over existing flat floor tiles.
Style Plantation offers three different lines of bamboo flooring i.e. Conventional Horizontal Bamboo, Conventional Vertical Bamboo and Styleboard which is a strand woven product.
The flooring is available in two colours namely coffee and natural and in 3 finishes - matt, semi-gloss and high-gloss.
The Styleboard strand woven product presents more like a traditional timber floor as opposed to the conventional bamboo flooring where the bamboo knots are clearly visible. All products are pre-finished and the boards are a tongue and groove system.
Benefits of Bamboo
Bamboo is allergy free, environmentally friendly and repels termites. The boards are coated with three to six coats of a very resilient and hardwearing Polyurethane and UV cured, it shows amazing stamina for commercial and high activity areas. Bamboo is resilient to changes in temperature, making it the ideal choice for all living areas, bedrooms, kitchens etc (excluding wet areas i.e. bathrooms/laundry) in the home.
However, above all these extraordinary features are quite simply the look of bamboo flooring. When you walk into a room floored in bamboo you truly do catch your breath. There is a quality, warmth and feel created entirely by the floor itself.
Before choosing flooring, you really need to see bamboo for yourself.
CONVENTIONAL BAMBOO FLOORING
Horizontal - unmistakably Bamboo, with it’s unique internodes clearly defined this style of flooring is manufactured with three layers of bamboo laid at right angle for maximum stability. These boards are available in two distinct colours (natural and coffee) as well as three finishes – matt, semi gloss and gloss finish.
As with all the other flooring the boards are pre finished with a commercial grade aluminium oxide final coat for added durability and easy cleaning.
The boards measure 92mm (narrow board) or 152mm wide (wide board), 1850mm long and a full 15mm thick with an slight bevel to clearly define each board.
Vertical - a very fine grained look. Manufactured from 15mm thick sections more of bamboo cut into the walls of the poles. The look provided from these boards is a very fine linear look as each section of bamboo is just 5mm thick. These 5mm sections are bonded into boards measuring 92mm or 152mm wide to give you a beautiful fine grained look to the floor.
The vertical boards are available in two distinct colours (natural and coffee) as well as three finishes – matt, semi gloss and gloss finish.
The boards measure 92mm (narrow board) or 152mm wide (wide board), 1850mm long and a full 15mm thick with an slight bevel to clearly define each board.
STYLE BOARD™ STRAND WOVEN BAMBOO
Strand woven bamboo floor boards are high quality, high density solid bamboo. The finished boards have the look and feel of traditional hardwood floors but made from with a renewable resource – i.e. bamboo which is a grass grown plentifully in China.
The strand woven bamboo is the next generation in hard flooring, because of the unique properties of the strand woven bamboo we have given it a deserving name – Style Board™.
HOW IS IT MADE?
Bamboo is harvested at the age of 4-5 years from
Government controlled forests in China. Not long after cutting it is
subject to processing: it is cut roughly to length, outer edge is removed,
knots are ground down and it is split by machine. After insect retardant
treatment the strands are air dried. Some are them are carbonised to produce
coffee-coloured strands. The strands are coated in low VOC adhesive then are
compressed into sheets using high compression pressing machines.
The resulting sheets are dried, precision milled cut into boards, tongue and
grooved and coated using high quality Klumpp coatings.
The uniform compression of the Style Board™ is part of the special process
incorporated by the factory to get a consistent compression.
STYLEBOARD ™ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Style Board™ bamboo boards are very hard and
durable. In independently conducted tests the natural colour rated as 14.3kN on
the Janka test and the coffee colour rated 15.3kN. These ratings compare very
favourably with Jarrah for example at 8.6kN and the normal laminated bamboo
flooring at 6.9kN to 8.5kN
The Style Board™ is nearly twice as hard as Jarrah and at 14mm is thicker with
no sanding so you get a lot more for your dollar with Style Board™.
We offer the world a renewable resource product that has the look and feel of a
hard wood conventional floor BUT with the renewable resource theme AND one of
the hardest timber flooring products in the world.

CARPETING
WOVEN SISAL & FLATWEAVE CARPETS AND RUGS
Style Plantation carries an extensive range of sisal and flatweave carpets and rugs in an array of colours and styles to suit both domestic and commercial applications.
Sisal is a natural fibre extracted from the long spike shaped leaves of sisal plants. The leaves are crushed and the green pulp is scraped away to leave long fibres which are then dried and prepared for weaving.
All our sisal is based on the original highest quality East African (Tanzania) sisal fibres. Natural fibres are static-free and as such do not attract dust. Slight weaving and shade irregularities are characteristic of sisal.
Our sisal and flatweave floor coverings are sourced from manufacturers based in Europe and Asia.
